Sandy's Secret at Palmetto Beach, Avenida Mangle, Caye Caulker, Belize.

Back in 2013, we started on the project that eventually became Laura's Lookout and Sandy's Secret. Sandy's Secret, a two bedroom apartment, is located on the first floor of the house; Laura's Lookout occupies the floors above. Sandy's, however, has its own separate entrance from the front of the house; Laura's is accessed by an entrance around the back, done purposely so that each house would retain it's individuality and privacy. In addition, Sandy's was built using sound insulation in reinforced concrete, minimizing any noise from outside or above.

We have a 24 hour security guard on site and during the day, our office hours are 9:00am - 7:00pm, so someone is always on hand to help with your needs. The office is immediately on your right as you walk through the gates to Palmetto Beach.

The apartment is light and airy, with incredible, impressive views of the beach, dock, sea and the reef beyond. It offers easy access to the Beach Path, which will take you right into the center of town by either a 5-10 minute bike ride, or a 10- 15 minute walk, the location remains quiet and secluded, a bit of the Caye Caulker of old!!!

Completed by Mennonite craftsman, the workmanship gives you a total Caribbean feel. The floor plan includes two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with two twin beds that can be made into a King upon request. For convenience, depending on the group, we have added two futons for those who would rather not share a bed. All linens are 600 thread count; the full bathroom is always stocked with thick, plentiful towels and beach towels. Air conditioning is available as needed in all rooms and with individual preference in mind, each unit has a separate remote control. The kitchen is roomy and modern, stocked with whatever appliance you should need. The living area, which commands awesome views of the sea, has a flat screen TV, games, wi-fi and a movie library.

A few steps from the front door brings you to our man made beach area, jutting 50 feet into the sea, this provides another area in which to relax and enjoy the sun, there are a couple of palapas on the beach if you want to avoid the sun and corn hole as well as ladder toss to entertain you. Finally, just beyond the beach area, you come upon the 300 foot dock. With three separate entrances to the water below, there is room to dock your boat (if you have one!!), 6 pods extending outward for more room and a palapa at the end of the dock if you require shade. Covered with chaise lounges, you would be hard pressed to find a better place on Caye Caulker to just sit and relax, or watch the incredible sunsets.
Behind Sandy's is a tranquil palm grove with BBQ facilities including picnic tables and a giant Jenga game. Paddle boards and kayaks are available for free, Beer can be bought at the front desk by the bottle, the bucket or a whole case. You can also rent bikes and golf carts at the front desk or book tours with anyone of the many tour operators on the island for fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving or sunset sailing cruises, our staff are there to help. Bikes are available to rent at US $7.50 per bike, per day, We also rent golf carts but supply is limited. We recommend you reserve with us in advance.

  My family of 5 (3 adults, 2 children) loved staying here. The location was a touch out of town, but taxis were cheap and easy to find if we didn't feel like walking. Staff are always available on the property, which made the stay super easy. The house itself is fantastic for a small group. We especially enjoyed going in the pools, playing beach games provided by the property, and hanging out on the dock. One day we borrowed boats from the property, and I appreciated that we didn't have to go through a rental company and could just use them for as long as we wanted (which wasn't long!).

  We fell in love with our rental unit, Sandy's Secret, as soon as we arrived at the Palmetto Beach enclave. Our spacious, bright accommodation had everything we needed and was just right for all three of us. The views from our expansive porch and the garden were equally beautiful. Deb and Tim were excellent at addressing all of my inquiries prior to booking and made the entire process very simple. They were incredibly kind and all-around fantastic to work with, and they well beyond met our expectations. The Valento staff made sure to link the two twin beds together to create a king bed upon arrival and were all incredibly warm and friendly. They always had a smile on their face and were willing to offer their assistance.
  
  We really enjoyed the serene surroundings and pool area, which was so refreshing. The units also share the most magnificent dock where we were able to see amazing sunrises and sunsets. Additionally, using the bikes made getting around town a breeze. We had such a wonderful stay at Sandy's that we even extended an extra day because it was that great. All of the Valento properties are just as beautiful, so we will definitely be returning for more adventures at their properties.

  Our family of four loved this location. Sandy's Secret is directly on the beach, in a very quiet section of the island. We got up every morning and watched the sunrise from the dock. We next had our coffee on the veranda, enjoying the view. We would walk along the beach to get to the main area of the island for the activities of the day. At days end, we appreciated the quiet area and the excellent air conditioning in the rooms.
  
  As for activities on the island, we loved watching the sun set at the Iguana Inn, having the sting rays tickle our toes. We enjoyed exploring the many eateries on the island. We did the full day snorkeling tour and loved seeing the coral reefs and had the opportunity to see turtles.

  We loved this stay. We went to Belize for my husbands 70th birthday. Sandy's Secret was perfect. Even through there were only 2 of us, I wanted oceanfront and paid the extra for this two bedroom unit. It was worth every penny. Don was helpful and responsive in every way. The place itself is better than the photos suggest. Clean, all the kitchen amenities (bring your own spices if you like to cook as we do). I could not recommend it more highly.

  Great overall experience, loved that it was located outside of the main town area, but still a 10 minute walk. Only negative is that the coffee pot is too small!!!! Ha! It only holds about 2 cups of coffee, so we had to brew coffee about 3 times for the 3 coffee drinkers in the group. Patio is great, AC nice, management company responsive, felt safe and able to relax.

  We had a wonderful stay at Sandy's Secret. The atmosphere while at the house was private and quiet, but we were just a short walk or bike ride away from the excitement of the island. We could swim off of the dock, we saw many fish in the water. The birds, crabs, and lizards were fun to look for. The sun rise was beautiful each morning, the breezes off the ocean were cooling. The house was well equipped with everything we needed and the grocery store was a 3-4 minute walk. We spent many mornings sitting by the water or on the front porch! Love this place!

  Nice spot. Well set up and supplied, excellent and helpful staff. Nice dock. The night time private security is very nice to have as well, in case you forget to bring your snorkeling gear in or lock your bike. The porch is great for the view and ocean breeze. Overall very happy with our stay.
